For fans of the Arts there is a Downtown Art Walk every Thursday throughout the year. The Art Walk takes place on Main St. and Marshall Way which is only 15 minutes away from our property. The Art Walk is a great opportunity to experience downtown Scottsdale and get out and about for a few hours. While you are walking around looking at all of the great galleries be sure to check out the other businesses. There are many delicious restaurants along the Walk where you can stop for a bite to eat or a glass of wine. There are also different free outdoor concerts and performances throughout the year during the Art Walk and activities for children so it is a great place for a Date Night or Family Night! Also located in Scottsdale and only about 10 minutes away is the Desert Stages Theater. Troupes from all over and all age groups put on performances year round and the tickets are very inexpensive. Come and catch a show!
There are many different festivals that happen during the fall season. For fans of the Equestrian way of life there are many different horse shows during the months of September through December. On September 29th and 30th there is the “Honey Festival” with live dancers, bee keeping demonstrations, honey spa treatments, and honey-themed culinary treats! October 5th through the 9th there will be the 12th Annual International Film Festival featuring both international pieces and domestic works. October 7th is the Virginia G. Piper Concert Series featuring some of the world’s finest classical musicians. Oktoberfest will be celebrated on October 13th in many different locations with varying festivities. We-Ko-Pa Golf Club (Cholla) in Fort McDowell is ranked at number 37 and has become known as the definition of quintessential desert golf. Part of what makes this course so stunning is the fact that almost all of the surrounding land has been left to keep growing naturally without any development or industry crowding in.
Number 40 We-Ko-Pa Golf Club (Saguaro) in Fort McDowell AZ is very walker-friendly. It was designed to follow and make use of the natural layout of the land. Opposite the Cholla course, at the same location, the Saguaro course was created to be atypical of desert golf. The designers hoped to create some new challenges and new shots to keep golfers off guard and having fun.
Troon North Golf Club (Monument) in Scottsdale AZ is ranked at number 52 and is definitely challenging with its’ many sand traps and pitfalls. If you are looking to improve your swing and lower your score you could also take lessons at this location. They offer private lessons or and recently begin offering training and tips in an online version.
Number 53 on the Top 100 Courses list and also ranked as the 4th toughest course in America according to the Golf Digest (2007) is PGA West (TPC Stadium) in La Quinta CA (located just outside of Palm Springs). It gets the title of Stadium from the designers’ attempt at building stadium-style spectator seating into the natural layout. There are many sand traps and water hazards so it is popular for expert golfers.
Cascata in Boulder City NV is number 58 and is often referred to one of the best courses in the U.S and Europe by the people who have played there. This course is unique in that Cascata employees provide a personal touch that can be hard to find in other places. Another unique feature is the breath-taking 418 foot waterfall above the driving range that rambles through the practice fields and thunders through the clubhouse.

One of the most popular activities in this area is hiking due to the picture perfect mountains and sunny desert weather. An important note for experienced or beginning hikers is to always, ALWAYS remember to bring plenty of drinking water as this is a desert climate and you will need it.
Our Canterra and Enclave complexes are conveniently located near several popular hiking spots in Palm Springs. One of the most popular hiking spots in the area is affectionately called the “Bump and Grind” and it is a great way to get your cardio work-out in! The Bump and Grind trail has a lot of switch-backs and is popular year round. This is a great area for beginners as there is little chance of ending up alone and help is always nearby. Also nearby are the Homestead, the Gabby Hayes, the Connector and the Hopalong Cassidy trails which are great for intermediate and expert hikers. If hiking is not your favorite thing to do but you still want to be outdoors, you could take a trip to Civic Center Park off of Fred Waring Dr. and San Pablo Ave. This park is one of the largest recreational areas in Palm Springs and there are many different sites to visit. For the history buffs out there, you could visit the Holocaust Memorial or the Peace memorial and learn more about the way life was during those time periods. For the art fans there is an impressive public art collection that you can tour or visit by yourself. There is also a concession building a skate park, children’s play ground, an amphitheater, a dog park, volleyball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, and basketball courts.
